Bio

My first gig at an American Legion Hall at the age of 10 playing “Can’t Buy Me Love” by The Beatles started a journey of hundreds of gigs in virtually every rock venue in the Midwest resulting in my live dynamic performance possibly being my strength.
That journey also included several record label signings and hours and hours of studio work.
Including a Grammy Nomination:
"Best New Artist – Midwest”

What I Have Learned...

At this point in my life, I have come to truly love and appreciate the instrument.

That appreciation was set firmly through my drum teacher the great Phil Stanger.

I took lessons from Phil, an accomplished jazz artist, for ten years at the famous Frank’s Drum Shop - Chicago.

I still have every sheet of exercises and notations that Phil gave me.

I want to share that love and appreciation with YOU!

What You Will Learn...

As an adjunct professor of Social Science, I am an experienced educator. I will apply my successful educational skills to my drum students.
You will learn the important skills needed to be a good drummer:
Technique, rhythm, rudiments, fills and practice routine but also, timing, dynamics, musicianship and what it means to be a good bandmate.
You will also learn to play a wide array of musical styles.
What most instructors overlook are the aspects of tuning, repair, instrument construction and make-up.
Not here, with three completely different drum kits at your disposal, 20 snare drums and 12 cymbals, you will have the opportunity to expand your playing and listening ability in a practical and tactile sense.
And that’s what drumming is, you FEEL it!
In addition, you will learn skills and confidence tricks to apply to your live performance that will make you the most memorable member of your band.
